Jumped okay & Settled Down Two Wide trailing a long head, took Lead at the 550m, went clear and led Two Wide by 2 Lengths turning, kept going in Straight and only Headed 50m from post. [Stewards questioned rider re tactics adopted. Rider stated that his instructions were to obtain a forward position and allow it to stride freely, however he was required to pressure it early to obtain the lead, mindful of the quick early pace he was on its mouth as much as he could possibly be in attempting to control the speed whilst being mindful of instructions not to restrain it due to a history of breathing issues. His further instructions were to pinch a break leading to the home turn but it could not sustain the run. Co-Trainer confirmed the instructions adding he had observed it had sweated up noticeably behind the barriers, which with the race pace likely had an effect on the performance.
