[Stewards questioned rider re performance. App. jockey stated it was unusually settled early/middle stages before dropping the bit at 1000m requiring him to encourage it along. He added it weakened approaching the home turn and he did not test it from 300m when it was a beaten horse. He further stated it has weak heavy-track form, he opined it raced like a tired horse. Post-race vet exam did not reveal any abnormality.] # weakened badly

Jumped okay, worked forward down centre of straight from the Wide alley, 3 Wide rounding first turn, into Two Wide joint Lead at 1700m, hurdled 1600m crossing as it took the lead, went clear and crossed to fence, Held Together in front until being Headed at 1000m, took the sit from there and placed 2nd trailing 3 Lengths into the turn, shifted out early in Straight then switched back inside leader at 300m, hit Lead 250m and kept going to post. [Stewards: Underwent pre-race vet exam. Passed fit to race. Inclined to pull early stages. Hurdled 1600m crossing. Stewards questioned trainer re improved performance. Trainer stated it had avoided being crossed and settled where comfortable, allowing it an uninterrupted run to the line where it was able to outstay the field. He added it had clearly appreciated the 800mm step-up in journey.] # solid win
